Julie Patey My passion is exploring mixed media in printmaking combining the love of paper with the love of colour and texture found in the landscape. I have been producing prints for 20 years although I originally trained as a painter. My training was at the Canberra School of Art and then Phillip Institute of Technology, with Danny Moynihan (1977) I have been teaching printmaking in the TAFE sector for 15 years and have recently retired. My teaching gave me the opportunity to encourage experimentation to achieve beautiful imagery without loads of equipment. My first love was lithography but since moving to central Victoria I am now seduced by texture and combining etching and chine colle or collagraphs with mixed media and natural pigments. Central Victoria abounds with talented printmakers. I am a member of Castlemaine Press, I am a member of the Print Council of Australia and I have been on the committee of the Newstead Arts Hub. I combine collagraph, monoprint, pastel and wet media to respond strongly to the land around me. Central Victoria has been my home for 19 years responding to the environment looking across Lake Cairn Curran.
