Barbara SemlerI first studied printmaking when in Alice Springs. The beauty of the Central Australian Desert inspired a number of my prints.
Upon moving to Central Victoria, I returned to studying printmaking focusing on collagraphs. I love to use found objects from the environment in the creation of my plates.
I have been exploring the shapes and structures of landscapes and the light at different times of the day and night in the landscape. My work interprets both the large and small scale in the environment.
The environment for me is a spiritual place and so exploring the environment in some detail feels like part of my own spiritual journey. I have found a connection with the shapes of the environment in the printmaking I have done. I have grown to love the beauty in the Box Ironbark Forest of Central Victoria.
In recent times I have used monoprinting to explore the connection between beings and care of the environment.
